Game Room 21!!

On 30 and 31st of March: Played Splendor and Love letter with Advika. She won Love Letter in our first play.

On 1 st April : I and Mitra played a quick 2 player Russian Railroads. Fast and fascinating!

On 2nd April: I and Advika played Bravest Warriors. Being co-operative, it is a very easy game and Advika loves it, that’s no wonder because of the cute cartoon element in it.

On 3rd April we gave our first try on Elder Sign and Augustus. Elder Sign is my favorite and Augustus is just another gateway game like Splendor. Good in terms of family point of view.

XCOM, Power Grid and Quarriors over the Weekend!

On 27th and 28th March 2015: @clubhouse and @Lexington!

Started Friday evening with XCOM. It was completely a learning game for all of us. We ran the tutorial session of the app and then played the full game. It seemed like Sudha/Priya didn’t see much in this, but I love the game. It is one of my favorite co-op style games.

Saturday, we were invited by Sudha for lunch. Had good lunch at Sudha’s and a yummy dinner at Goutham’s.  We started with Power Grid, which took around 4 hours to complete(a learning game again). So we were too hungry that we together made some quick dinner and finished munching as quickly as we could in ike half-an hour. I thought  Quarriors would be fun and wouldn’t make us sleep. It went for about 2 hours and had a great weekend together.

Game Room 20!!

On 23rd, 25th and 26th March 2015:

I and Arun played a game of Splendor and my new PnP- Tiny Epic Galaxies on 23rd. We always enjoy the game time we spend together.

Then 25th should be a record day for I bought about 11 games for just $150. An unexpected trade on Craigslist. I was so lucky to make it and now they all are getting played one after the other. The games are- Shadows of Brimstone(both the boxes)- new at@65 bucks each). Damage Report- new for at least $45, Tragedy looper- currently $27, Witcher- $38, Arcadia quest- $80, XCOM- $38, 27th Passenger- $35, Zombie 15 – $51, Tammany hall – $44, Lords of Xidit- $43, Bravest warriors -$20.

DON’T YOU THINK THAT’S A GREAT DEAL!!

Then the same day was the cricket day when again we all gathered in Mitra’s house. I and Mitra played Cribbage twice- I always want to play something of the size of Eclipse, but end up playing fillers and most stupidly, with Cribbage. But I enjoy that as well.  Advika played Doodle Dice with one of the new friends Haritha. It was a fun night but unfortunately, that was the end of India’s world cup 2015 tournament. 😉 :p

The the next day (i.e) on 26th, I took the first one out of “the big pile” – Bravest Warriors Dice game. It is perfect for Advika and I told you I love dice. So played once with Advika and once again with Mitra. It is a cool very cool co-operative game.

Game Room 19!!

On 21st March 2015: @ Club house:

As I used to say Saturdays are super awesome and I am always looking forward for more such fun. This weekend we played a game of Tzolkin and I think there were no new players that day. It is a very interesting worker placement game that I would always recommend.

Then we needed a filler and no wonder we take out Splendor most of the time these days. Goutham and Sudha, you always win all the games we play. This time it was Sudha for both Tzolkin and Splendor!

Machi Koro 2!

On 20th March 2015: @ Source:

Played Machi Koro, a very straight forward card game. 5 player game and I won the “Wide mouth” – I think I explained this before.

Outpost and Imperial Settlers!!

On 18th March 2015: @FFGC:

Played a strange game called Outpost. My first 7 player game and  have never experienced such a very chaotic game play. It could have been better with fewer number.

Then I got to play another favorite of mine – Imperial settlers. I have played that once before and got impressed. It is a very engaging game and pretty good for gamers who likes simple but a quality game.

Game Room 18!!

On 16th, 18th and 19th March 2015: @home:

I and only I can understand how important is recording all these game plays, be it a simple monopoly or a heavy 6 player Dominant Species.

Casual gaming with my princess. We played Splendor again at home and she is consistently improving with her strategies. It is a pleasure watching kids grow just in front of our eyes. 🙂

Then after Wednesday gaming, I came home and found that Mitra and Aditya were ready for a game. I decided to teach them Russian Railroads. Everyone likes a simple design but a fairly good strategy game, but we all expect variety when playing every time and re-playability, which I think is less in this game.  Like once UndeadViking said, this game has no variety in it. It gets bored after playing a few times.  Though it is very interesting and more like a Godfather for all worker placement games, it lacks some of those present day techniques. This game should have been played a long time ago.

And a small filler to end the day – Cribbage with Mitra. Aditya and Arun were watching Cricket World cup 2015.

Then on the next day, I made my third PnP – Tiny Epic Galaxies. Now a days I have a perfect companion to try all my new but simple games. That’s none other than my daughter. She did not enjoy this much but I think it is a pretty well made concept for a PnP at least.

Organized gaming 8!!

On 15th March 2015: @ Clubhouse:

Another grand day of Arkwright. Tim, Arun, Goutham and I played a four player Arkwright on that day. I rightly thought Arun and Goutham would be perfect for the game. Tim asked that if he has to start from the basic version, and I assured him that these guys would be perfectly OK with starting directly with the Waterframe version.

Arun is always good in logical thinking and he scored 630 in the game. There he broke my score last time when I got 575. This time I got 580 and totally satisfied with the game.

At the same time I was so sorry for Priya, who had to wait for the whole time, till we finished the big game. So I decided to sit for her for a little longer. We also played Guillotine and Fish Cook which are two cute fillers.

Organized gaming 7!!

On 14th MArch 2015: @ Clubhouse:

Invited Matt Boehland, kind of a well known gamer in the meetup groups. He is a very passionate and a serious gamer. I have played Robinson Crusoe and Lords of Waterdeep with him. I remember him as the wooden organizer guy. Yes, he was the one who was showing off with all the fancy wooden inserts for his games at the CotN. He also game me one such for Eclipse.

I have been calling him since long time for a game of Twilight Struggle and he made it finally. We started the game around 1.00 PM and completed in about 4 to 5 hours. I played the USA as he opted for USSR. Obviously he won and this time I remembered most of the rules unlike other three times when I played the same. So it went very smoothly and I enjoyed the game.

Then we started Elder Sign. That was again my request as it is one of my favorites. I will be buying it at some point of time, and playing it more would definitely help in getting used to the rules. We played twice, as the first time he was choosing red(tough) monsters to fight with and we lost in just about 15 min. The second time we played well against the monsters, but however lost. Well organized co-operative game, and a great one to introduce newbies to co-op style.

The same evening I and Mitra played a game of Cribbage. Man, she loves this game. After all, who wouldn’t.

Then I, Advika and Mitra played Splendor. Advika started using all the strategies and techniques these days. She won the game and she was targeting all the black gems and cards. Planned and scored very well at the end. She is definitely the princess of splendor.

Then Mitra, Aditya, I and Arun played a game of Eclipse after dinner. We played only 5 or 6 rounds and Arun was doing perfect as usual. A great game and I would play anytime anywhere.

Game Room 17!!

On 13th March 2015: @ Lexington:

That was my second day at Priya and Goutham’s apartments. We all planned to play at the clubhouse but since it took quite a long time to end the gaming madness, we decided to go to Goutham’s house and continue there.

Played Splendor with Goutham, Priya and Sudha. They all loved the game and Splendor could melt anyone’s heart with its simple and easy approach.

Then we had a blast playing Quarriors. It was a three player game as Sudha couldn’t join. Quarmageddon is a perfect expansion that all the quarriors lover should possess. Rolling dice, fighting creatures and powerful spells- who wouldn’t love them?

Since we did all easy games , we had enough time to do more and we played Fish Cook. I was so proud to introduce my first PnP game to more game enthusiasts.

Had a fun evening with friends!
